Fishing in Lohr a.Main

Anglers: an obvious feature of the local landscape, and the picture of peace and tranquillity as they sit almost motionless on the banks on either side of the Main. If you fancy catching your own supper, too, or would simply like to get in touch with nature down at the river, then please do!

The fishing waters of Lohr Fishermen’s Guild extend upriver as far as River km 206 (Neuendorf), and downriver as far as River km 191.6 (between Rodenbach and Neustadt). Given that the river has an average width of 120 metres, that means around 190 hectares of fishing water await you.

Somewhere along this 30 km stretch of riverbank, you are sure to find a secluded spot to set up your rod. Maybe you will even catch one of the huge wels catfish (silurus glanis) that have been spotted increasingly often in recent years

Angling permits are available from Lohr Fishermen’s Guild. Day permits are also available from the Tourist Information Office in Lohr.
