Lohr a.Main has close ties with three municipalities in other European countries
The town became a sponsor of the village of Burgusio/Burgeis in South Tyrol in 1972. At the time, this mountain village at the foot of the Passo di Resia/Reschen Pass was predominantly an agricultural and livestock farming community.
Since 1992, Lohr am Main has also been twinned with the French town of Ouistreham in the Département of Calvados. Every year, the youth centre organises a youth exchange with this harbour town near Caen.
In 2001, the town gained another twin. The Polish town of Milicz is in Lower Silesia and, like Lohr, it has a School of Forestry and a psychiatric hospital.
